The American Society of Military History was incorporated in California in 1962 as a California Non-profit educational organization. The museum has never used any goverment funds, all funding is through Museum membership, volunteers, and individual and corporate donors.

The Museum is about 15 minutes from downtown Los Angeles. The Museum is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday year round from 10:00 Am to 4:30 Pm. Since all the Displays are outside.
